Hang Ten Lifesaving South African Nationals Championships 2011
The time has arrived for the ultimate championship: SAs, Champs, Nationals. By any other name, it’s still the Champs. Starting on Wednesday 30th March 2011, at about 12pm on Camps Bay Beach, the Masters (30+ years of age) take to the ocean and beach to battle it out first. Flags, sprints, ski, board, swim, run: non-stop action until sunset.
Then on Thursday, early morning, the official opening of the games commences with a jam-packed program of events right up until Saturday sunset. Rain, wind, surf or snow, surf lifeguards from around the country’s 27 surf clubs will compete for a number of titles.
Durban Surf are the defending champions, narrowly edging out rivals Fish Hoek and Umhlanga Rocks.
